personal emails from Belgian police Human resources procedures still circulating
A somewhat populist party (LDD) that has a love for emails that arrive in its mailbox (quite astonishing what people write in emails, especially when it is more or less confidential and maybe surely somewhat or more illegal) had another bunch of emails from internal Human Resources from our national police. According to the emails the chief of Police for our capital had arranged his own evaluation. Have to see the email itself although.
It shows that emails have to be secured from end to end and that encryption and archiving are an essential part of that. Not to hide criminal or illegal facts but to find the proof or evidence rather fast.
As we have said from the beginning the Commission P that is investigating all those cases should do a real e-discovery investigation and the minister should oblige the police to install the necessary infrastructure to secure and archive its communications (instant messenging included - just like banks (ought to) do)
