Proposition to withhold creditcards of kiddieporn buyers is not without risk
Herman De Croo did the proposition to withdraw the creditcards of people who have bought kiddieporn online. They could also be blacklisted. It seems - like most stuff about internetsecurity that is now concentrated on kids because that seems to get media attention - a very good idea at first but
* what is kiddieporn, the underage for sex is different in many countries (in some countries kids even marry at 12) and the internet is international. So you will have to set an international baseline for stuff that is always and everywhere anyhow illegal.
* the biggiest problem are the P2P networks and the porn galliers and communities that seem to have a problem with filtering even the most obvious underage pics. These are between thousands of other adult pics but they are there. Is it an underage sex pic gallery or not ?
* what will happen if your creditcard is stolen or just cloned and how do you get off that blacklist ? In pedo affairs it seems that the rule of innocence is not really applicable. And it would also be a perfect way to sabotage someone. Imagine that someone instead of using the account of Sarkozy for some small money had used his creditcard information (which is by the tens of thousands in crimeware databases) to buy kiddieporn with it - or to do some extorsion ?
