do not trust the computer program, even not the one from the bank

You are not paranoïd if you calculate yourself how much you should have on your account, internet or not. All those calculations are done by computerprograms and those are built on assumptions and models and those are being written by people and in the complex mix of legalislation and rules, every human can make a mistake. It is only human. The only problem with computer programs is that they make the same mistake for thousands or millions of people and that the corrections are not always that easy (and the same counts for the crisis communication and the damage control and reputation loss).

So when internetbank Rabobank made a mistake like that it was only after the many emails and calls from customers that they acknowledged that there was a mistake in their computer program. It had something to do with a wrong interpretation of a tax rule, but as it hadn't been thoroughly checked and rechecked by different teams it stayed in the program and was executed.

What a way to start a year.
