Securitylevel global Belgian Internet getting much better

Arbor Networks keeps a tab on the insecurity of networks by using data they collect from their interception networks and other partners.

Last year Belgium was steadily in the top5 or top 10 of the most insecure networks of the world. Since January we have a CERT and even as it has only half the manpower it asked for and only a fraction of what it would need to clean up the mess, there is maybe a positive effect slowly becoming visible - but not for the botnet command and control servers

When we look today at the insecurity level of the Belgian networks we see a totally different picture - and we also have the impression that Belgacom is putting in a lot of effort because there were last year it was responsable for 80% of the scans and attacks this is hardly the case today. Some small investments are in fact a quickwin.

When I look at this, I must say I never have seen this before in the last years and I would have never dreamt about it.

This doesn't mean that everything is going well and fine, but it means that on some levels we are on the right track.
