anti childpredatorapp for US police services gets tips from public about childpredators in hiding

ICE’s Operation Predator App allows users to receive alerts about wanted predators, to share the information with friends via email and social media tools, and to provide information to HSI by calling or submitting an online tip. “Additionally,” ICE said, “the app allows users to view news about the arrest and prosecution of child predators and obtain information about ICE and its global partners in the fight against child exploitation.”

ICE’s Operation Predator App was launched in September 2013 and has since been downloaded more than 89,000 times, ICE said. This year it was nominated as one of eight finalists for “Best App” in the PR News’ 2014 Social Media Icon Awards.

The app is the first of its kind in US federal law enforcement.

Currently, the app can be downloaded from Apple's App Store or iTunes. Users can look for expanded compatibility to other smartphones in the near future.

HSI requests anyone with information about the fugitives profiled to contact the agency in one of two ways, which can be done through the app:
